Ronald van der Weegen (Fogo Island Inn, NL)

Originally from Halsteren, The Netherlands, I spent most of my life at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe), a NATO base located in Casteau, Belgium.

Fluent in 4 languages, I started my hospitality career in Breda, The Netherlands as an Assistant Manager at Hotel Brabant, a four star property.   Following my move to Canada, I continued my hospitality career with Centennial Hotels, where I gained valuable experience in many aspects of the hospitality industry.  I have been the Managing Director for Quality Visitor Services since 1998.

My heart and soul has been in the hospitality industry, taking quality programs such as Canada Select, Camping Select, Accessadvisor, Cyclists Welcome, Motorcycles Welcome, Green Destination, Pets Are Welcome and BamText to the next level, while assisting operators in “raising the bar” when it comes to quality.
